Beautifully published and richly illustrated book presents Polish villas over the centuries, from the Renaissance, baroque, classicism, historicism and eclecticism of the nineteenth century, to the more recent trends: Arts and Crafts movement, Art Nouveau, modernism, postmodernism or the latest ideas of stylistic pluralism. All presented examples represent the reception of European patterns of residential buildings and adapting them to native building styles. The book includes descriptions of 93 villas located in former or present areas of Poland. The authors are Polish scholars of historic and modern architecture, curators and critics.
