This pioneering publication, interestingly and richly illustrated, will explore the time that forms the background for the later war dradrama, the fanatical defence of Festung Breslau. The author analyses the period of the established Nazi rule in Stadt Breslau, talks about the transformation of the everyday life of the inhabitants and the intellectual climate of Wrocław from 1938, the last time of the “normal” life of the city’s inhabitants, until the autumn of 1944, which was followed by its self-destruction determined by military factors.
