A game that leaves much to be desired

Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 12.30 PM till 2 PM

Is it possible to create the perfect city? What might it look like if all our hopes and dreams for it were to come true? Or perhaps every wish brings with it unexpected consequences? These are the questions that the winning project from the Open Call for Ideas for the 14th edition of the MIASTOmovie festival will attempt to answer.

‘A Game That Leaves Much to Be Desired’ is an interactive workshop during which we will work together to create our own original card game about the city, its residents, and dreams of a better place to live. Join us for a cooperative game with elements of competition, which will show just how complex a city is as an organism and how every decision affects its future.

First, we’ll design our own cards: we’ll give them a unique visual style and interpret the prepared wishes, which will be linked to the festival’s theme. Then we’ll take on various urban roles – an activist, a property developer, a neighbour watching life go by from her window, and many others – to work together to improve our living space.

Will we manage to create an urban utopia? Or will our mischievous wishes lead to urban chaos? Join us and find out!
