Sztuka idzie na wolność

The publication undertakes to analyse and confront the unprecedented phenomenon of independent culture in the 1980s in the countries of Central Europe. Starting from the concept of freedom, it outlines the processes taking place in the social and artistic fabric of Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary, the transformation of art in the face of the violence of the regimes of the time. As Igor Wójcik writes: the overriding demands of those who fought became human dignity and respect for the right of every person to freedom. Art stood on the barricades in defence of these values.
