Action Medea can be watched as a performance, but for us this is only one of the perspectives. We can talk about this structure as a composition of exercises, specific tasks in the field of the performer’s training, which, arranged in layers, constitute the next step, determine the next level or stage of practice. Like Kokyu training, Action Medea is a tool for understanding yourself in action, expanding the field of what is precise and conscious within the existing composition. We treat Action Medea as a precise tool, a performer training in itself ‒ it is intended not only to improve and expand one’s skill set but also to offer educational potential; to designate a meeting ground where we can share experience and techniques. In this way, Action Medea fulfils all the most important educational, research and artistic goals that we set for ourselves every day at Kokyu Studio.
Meeting at Work is our proposal for those who would not only like to watch the performance but also to ask questions or share reflections about work, technique and practice. By proposing Meeting at Work, we address all those who, for various reasons, want to break the convention of attending a performance. We invite practitioners, groups, theoreticians and all those in any other way keenly interested in questions about practising theatre. We do not promise that we know the answers, but we are ready to share questions, doubts and intuitions.
The Meeting at Work will take place on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 7 PM at the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław.
